Make Win 7 64-bit

Sam

I have a suggestion. It is this: Make Windows 7 a *completely* 64-bit
operating system. Most modern processors (the ones that'll meet the min
requirements) are 64-bit capable. This will be the final step in securing a
64-bit standard! This will incline software developers to make more, if not
most, programs 64-bit.

That is all.

Only makes sense really. 32 bit is more or less defunct for a full scale
PC.

An AMD X2 can be had under $80.

I agree - but the reality is drivers for all our hardware will not be
available in 2 years time. Printers/Web Cams/Graphics cards/ all need
modifying. Thats what's holding it back now. Most new machines (like my
laptop) are 64bit, but have a 32bit version of Vista. The built in web cam
for example won't work under 64 bit. The speed gain is that big anyway for
day to day usage. Much more an be gained by adding RAM or a new GFX card.

Yes.
My idea would have to not even have XP 64 bit.

Then come out with XP 64 bit as a new OS entirely...
with possibly a few additions. Maybe even name it Vista.

If all the H/W mfgs knew that Microsoft was going exclusively 64bit...
I somehow think the mfg's would possibly write drivers if they wanted to
get their hardware sold.

OTOH: I have a strange feeling that maybe Bill Gates knows a little more
about marketing than I do <G>!

My feeling is that since 64bit cpu's are now standard...why keep using 32bit
software?

But... from a historical standpoint...I guess win3x did not die out as soon
as 386's hit the market.

So it may be a few more years before the 64bit OS becomes the standard

Normally I've given up on correcting grammar, but in this troll's case...

Too many exclamation marks. Exclamation overload.
Add question mark at the end.
Wake up to yourself; do you think people are made of money!

Again, the question mark. Are you still in 2nd grade?

Wow...thanks. I don't see how a troll like you got to be "3rd place."
