Make telephone calls to landlines

P

Pete

I wish to make and receive telephone calls - here in
England - to other land lines (not VOIP) using my PC, so
that I may use a headset with my sound card.

Is this possible and is there some freeware to allow this?

Many thanks.

Hi Pete,

You would need a voice-capable modem and supporting software (which is
usually supplied by the modem manufacturer). A standard fax modem does not
have this function.

Thanx for the reply Rick,

Although the modem (CNXT V92 Data Fax Voice (COM3)) is
working fine, I am unable to find the disk.

Would this be possible thru 3rd party software?

Thankx.

Often the utilities/apps that ship with modems are
available on the modem or computer manufacturer's website.

Where have you looked? Please don't say "in the closet
and under the sofa cushions." Where on the web? Have you
been to the modem manufacturer's website? Have you used
Google?
