make pages look the same

I have a web with an index page. Now I want the pages
that appear after (from) this point to look all the same
up at the top of the page only and then be able to add
other things to the various pages as I go. Can anyone
explain how to do this in a simple manner, possibly in a
step by step simple way.

The easiest is with tables and include pages.
Create the top portion in a separate page.
Create a table at the top of your new page.
Click the table, select insert, included content and
include the page that has what you want at the top.

For a "very basic" example of an include, the left
nav panel here is an include.

the include is
www.95isalive.com/nav.htm

nav.htm looks the way it does on purpose.

Then use a style sheet for fonts, link underlines etc.

I prefer to use Shared Borders. Look under the format menu

Place the content in the border that you want the same on each page

There will be a new folder called _borders which contains the htm pages that define the borders

Update the border on one page and they will all update

I don't know if dynamic web templates work in 2002 or earlier but if
you are using 2003 you can create a dynamic web template (.dwt) by
using the save-as function. When you create the template you tell it
what areas that can and cannot be modified. The beauty of this is that
when you make a change to the dwt page it changes every page in your
website. There are two ways to use this 1) Make the changes in your
page and then do a save-as to create another page. 2) The other way is
to create a page, open the folder list and drag the dwt onto the the
page. I learned how to do this from Frontpage 2003 for Dummies. You
can check out the site I'm building @ www.dhcsupplies.com. The side
bar and the top can only be changed from my dwt. Hope this helps.
