Make Firefox default Browser

Tom

Hi.

It seems I cannot make Firefox the default browser, as when I open a link
from within Outlook or Windows Mail, or from within any program in Vista, it
still opens in IE7. To add to this part, I already posted this in the
Outlook, WM group, and I was told by an MVP that this is an OS issue.

Anway, to answer ahead of time, I have made FF the default browser,
confirmed. I have gone into "Default Programs in the CP and made changes,
they don't stick, and certain ones are not available. For example, even if I
choose Firefox under "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults", it reverts
back to using IE when I try clicking a link from within a program. IF I
choose Non-Microsoft, it reverts back to under Custom. Since it sticks to
"Custom" I choose Firefox, it reverts back to "Use my current web browser"
which turn out to be IE. Even if I go to setting defaults programs under
"Protocols" for HTTP
and HTTPS, it only has IE in the list.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tom

this is a Vista OS problem, and should be fixed hopefully in the near future.

However, I just installed Vista Ult. over XPx64 as a custom (clean) install,
and the OS accepts the choice of Firefox as the preferred browser, and
continues to do so. Go figure.
