make call from outlook contact with bluetooth

My laptop is connected to the mobile.
I wish to make a new call to a contact directly from outlook. Upon clicking
the start call button, I hear the laptop dialling the numbers and a Call
status screen pops up with Talk & hang up options but no call is made.
There is an option to create a Vonage account and I believe there is also an
option to call via Skype but I wish to make the call via my mobile network
provider.

Outlook uses the Windows dialer. The Windows dialer uses whatever physical
modem your PC contains.

Brian,

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry I am not that techno savvy, so I would be
grateful for a greater explanation..
I have an HTC TyTn mobile modem phone.
So, if I connect my HTC TyTn to my PC via a wire and start the TyTn as a
modem, then hit the Outlook call button in the contact window, the laptop
will call the number via my TyTn network operator?
Or do I have to have a separate modem as part of my Laptop...

Many laptops contain an analogue line modem. You can find out easily by
looking in the Device Manager.

Hi Brian,
1st thing, thanks again, sorry for being such an ill informed basic user.
Device manager tells me I have :-
Agere suystems HDA modem
Standard modem over bluetooth link
I have a Samsung X22, 2yr old laptop.
I want to make calls over the mobile, quickly (straight from Outlook) as
this will alleviate misdials, save my fingers, considerable time and use
technology as it should be used.
Ciao,
Markie

As I said, Outlook doesn't have its own dialer, it uses the Windows dialer.
If you can make the calls from Windows you should be able to make them from
Outlook. The built-in Windows dialer doesn't seem to be able to handle voice
modems. Some modems have their own dialers that replace or enhance the
Windows dialer to allow voice calls. You'll have to speak with the modem's
vendor.
