Greetings,

Windows Xp has a built in Cd Writer program. You can just drag the files you
want to be put on the cd and drop them into CDRW drive.

That simple!

Next step is to write them to the CD.

How do I copy selected files from HD to CD, using my CDRW? What XP
commands?

The inbuilt burning is limited - so first read up at
http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.htm on what it does and does not do. You
may find it desirable to get third party software. Also it does not
work with all drives.

Check at My Computer - r-click the Drive, Properties, and on the
Recording page check 'Enable recording'. If it is not there the
software will not work with this drive

Then if you select files and right click, Send To will include the drive
as a destination. This stashes up files in a holding area. When you
have accumulated a first lot to make a burning session (one has an
overhead of about 14MB, so may sure you do a worth while amount at a
time), you can r-click the drive in My Computer and 'Write files to CD',
which will start a Wizard and ask for a blank disk. At the end this
will be ejected - and can be used like any CD-Rom. You can put it back,
open to view files in Explorer, and that will show an area of files
awaiting writing: any you have queued in the mean time, and you can add
to it by drag and drop to burn a further session, adding in effect to
the previous one.
