Major upgrade of a-squared free

Just a heads-up in case anyone isn't aware of it: a-squared free has moved
up a significant notch and now includes the Ikarus scanning engine. See
here:

I've been using a-squared free for a long time now (it has a very useful and
very fast 'quick scan' which I use every day), and I upgraded this morning
to the new version without any problems (apart from a fp on the first scan I
did, which evoked a commendably fast response from Emsisoft).

Actually it upgraded itself from v3.5 to v4.0.0.21 plus it downloaded
some 35MB of Ikarus signatures.

I've been using McAfee's anti-rootkit tool recently--but I haven't actually
found anything with it so I can't vouch for its effectiveness!

:

Since the old Ewido who useta
be King of the Trojans (it's now called AVG anti-spyware) is going to quit
distributing signatures at the end of this year, you better update AVG-AS
free definitions now while you still can, if that's also in your toolkit.

My front line paid protection is the AVG 8 Internet Security suite, Dave -
and somewhere buried in that is the old Ewido workhorse.
