Guys

3 year old system made by a UK company called Mesh. Am now in NZ and
their brilliant technical support emial help won't accept NZ email
addys so you are my last hope!

Bought and installed a new master HD as the old one was failing. Using
the XP recovery disc that came with the system I installed XP home onto
the new drive.

Problems now arise when trying to connect to the internet. On this
current drive ( original one which is failing) it has a lot of NVIDIA
controls in device manager - one of which is a network adapter which
also happens to be my broadband connection.

When I put the new drive in with the fresh XP install I have 2x 1394
Connections - both saying enabled..But I can't get either of them to
recognise by b/band connection.

1394 is Firewire, is that how you connect to broadband in NZ? I am in
the states and we mostly use a network card and either a DSL or Cable
modem for that here, in home installations at least. I suppose Firewire
could be a standard in other countries. Why don't you call your ISP and
ask them how to set it up?

One solution might be to set up a Google G-mail account, or, barring that,
ask some one you know from outside NZ to mediate the process, forwarding the
replies to you.

Hi folks.

Quick update. Downloaded a program that told me what motherboard it
was. Couldn't really see through the dust!
Found Asus website, found the Nvidia centre pack. Downloaded, installed
and lo and behold....

Network connection appeared, ide controllers installed...

All looks well..

Thankyou for your help
