major and minor divisions in charts with a y range of >1000.

I make depth (y axis) vs time (x) axis on scatter charts. Have good luck until I want to use range greater than 1000. ie: y = 5000' to 6000' ok. Longer than that though, I cannot get the minor divisions to work on the scale. That is: I want my range to be 5000 min to 8800' max with major divisions of 20' and minor divisions of 2'. When I put these numbers in, the program saves them as min =5000, max = 8800 major = 20 and minr = 7.6 (instead of 2).
Also, when I make long charts, the x gridlines will not extend the full length of the chart.
Think this must be a program limitation. Any help out there.

You might consider dividing the figures by 100 and editing
the Y axis Titles to reflect this.

I remember my old professor saying that a chart should not
display more than 20 items on the x axis as it becon=mes
hard to interperate. Perhaps you could show say every
other value. It will still show a trend and and will be
easier to understand
