Main program EXE files changing size

For some reason, after I install certain programs (ie.
Unreal tournament 2003, unreal tournament, Autocad 2002,
quicktime player...) right after I install them, they
work fine. but after I leave the computer idle for around
an hour, they don't work anymore. Either they just don't
start(close before they open) or I ge t an error while
loading, and then it closes. on further inspection, after
the programs stop working, the main exe file has a
different file size that it did after install. (ie,
UT2003 goes from 872k to 1046k) I don't have a clue. It
isn't every program, just the ones listed and maybe a few
more. Please help, I've tried everything I could think of

What does "I've tried everything I could think of" actually mean? What
have you tried? What does a scan with your current antivirus using
updated definitions show?
