Hey

Hi,

I've got a P2P network where I've designated one computer (the bigest hard
drive and fastest computer) as the "server". I'm going to put the back end
tables from the split database on that computer and each computer in the
office (5) will access those files over the network using the front end by
linking to them.

Does MSAccess need to be installed on the "server"? It'll never have a
person sitting at it in order to use the files (neither front nor back end),
so I wouldn't think it's necessary to actually install access but I thought
I better check with the experts to be sure.

Thanks,
Me

Sounds good except that this is a network and not a P2P network. P2P
is for Internet file sharing and is not at all the same as standard
Windows file sharing network.

No, you do not need to have Access installed on that computer. Indeed
you really shouldn't have any software installed on that computer
other than the operating system and antivirus.
