mailto link gets corrupted with "%5bU%5d" after repeat publishing

I have found this problem since upgrading to FP 2003. I have a footer bar on
my main Dynamic Web Template with a contact mailto link in it. When I first
published it all was great. Then I notice after making some edits to varius
pages (NOT the template page) and re-publishing the site the link gets
corrupted with "%5bU%5d" coding inserted before the link as well as the full
web address. If I open the template and fix the link and republish it works
again. It also seems a little buggy... doesn't happen every time. I can make
new pages, edits, re-publish and all is well but then for some reason the
mailto gets corrupted with these "%5bU%5d"'s

Any suggestions?

%5b and %5d mean [ and ]. However, they should come up OK in the mail program.

If not, try the angle-bracket format:
John Doe <[email protected]>
or just the bare address.

It was entered as the bare address... I'll try using the angle brackets. It
seems like a bug of some sorts... I wonder if it's happening server side by
my provider.

and not either of these

It seems that at first you had square bracket in there, and then you said you
were going to try the angle brackets. None of the characters [ ] < > would
appear in a "bare" address (not an official term).
