We have a user that hit the mailbox limits set in our org. The mailbox
size was increased so the user could perform a clean up. The problem is
that after practically archiving the entire mailbox the mailbox will
not go down in size.

I logged into the account and thier is practically no mail in the
mailbox but it still shows the folder size at 399MB.

I let it cook over the weekend thinking the server may need some time
to catch up to the clean up but the folder size remains the same this
morning.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Cory

Cory,

Did you check all of the Outlook folders? The inbox may be being archived
but not the sent or deleted folders. Start by checking that first and if
you do not see anything listed make sure there are no filters on the view.

After archiving, the folders need to be compacted before any size
reduction takes effect.

Thanks SGTRich, this seemed to have done the trick. I had read some
TechNet Articles that said that said this could be the result of the
Exchange databases neding an offline Defrag because they have too much
WHite space, but for now it was a simple fix like you mention.

You're welcome. Glad it worked.
