all of a sudden the "from" in my inbox, deleted and junk mail folders is
gone. I can only see subject and received headers. Once I click on the
message I can see who the e-mail is from. But it's annoying. I like to see
who my mail is from right away, after it downloads. What happened to change
this? How do I fix it to get it back the way it was??

What mail client?

BobF.
Lincoln actually got it right but was way ahead of his time when he said,
"You can have some of you computer working all of the time and all of your
computer working some of the time but..." It was he that said that, wasn't
it?

I have windows mail... vista premium. Is that what you mean?
H

yes... when you say "the "from" in my inbox" do you mean the column is
completely deleted and all the other data is moved to the left or is just
the column under the heading is empty? Same for the folders? Are they gone
or just empty?

The word "from" is gone. In it's place is "subject" and further to the left
is "recieved".
so when I download my mail all that is visible is the subject. I can't see
who the mails are from until I click on to them. I can see the subject
though.
It was never that way before.

Please try: rt click on "subject" > columns > select "from" > below set
pixels to 230 > ok.
Let me know.

I thought so.
Replace Norton with the free AVG or Avast, and Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. Disabling Norton is not enough. You need to completely uninstall it.

"from" was already checked. I could not get into change pixels. It was set
at 22 I think.

Hey, I tried that again. This time though...I unchecked "from" THEN it
allowed me to change the pixels to 230. Then I checked "from", and it
worked!!!
THANK YOU! I didn't yet check my deleted or Junk folder yet. If they are
still that way, do I do the same thing?

Ok 22 might be enough room. On the mail page, move your mouse just to the
left of the "from" title until you see the mouse pointer change to and arrow
with a bar through it. (this would be the partition line between the
"subject" and "from" titles. ) Then drag the partition to the right, to
wherever you would like it to be.

Has anyone been "playing" with your computer lately?

Great...good to hear it. Now we need to address the problem the other Bob
(we are not the same person) mentioned, your AV. Norton and McAfee have
been giving lots of people grief. You should consider a switch to AVG asap.
Someday, Norton is going to bite you. When you remove Norton you need to
use this tool also since some of it wants to stay behind:

Norton problems often don't show themselves immediately.
Yes, you probably really need to do that.

Right click 'Subject' at the top of the column and select Columns...
Place a check in the box for From.
