mail no being sent to Names with single quotes

I’ve encountered a Microsoft Outlook 2003 problem that has me stumped. Names
from my Contacts folder in Outlook are beginning to appear surrounded by
single quotes; I don't know why. For example, 'John Smith' <[email protected]>


The problem is , when I prepare an e-mail and have a name placed in the
"To", " Cc", etc., fields, names and addresses that appear with quotes, even
though right, are not sent. I did not prepare names with quotes, but they
are now presenting with them. What is happening? Do you have any ideas or
suggestions? I would appreciate any assistance you could offer. Thank you

Could you clarify what 'not being sent' means? Are they sitting in the
Outbox? Are you getting an error back?

When you compose a message, how are you addressing it? Are you clicking the
To: button and selecting a name, or are you starting to type and picking
from the names offered in the dropdown?
