Before SP1 I occasionally had a problem when using Windows Mail for
Newsgroups in that it would show downloading Metadata but after completion
there would be no information at all on Status Bar. No # of Messages, no #
of unread, line was totally blank. Well I could close Mail and reopen and
"usually" the information would start displaying.

After SP1 it happens much more often, is the norm, and it takes a lot of
closes
and opens to get the information to show back up. Any ideas?

Have not noticed any other issues that are worse like this since SP1.

(Amazing to me they did not fix the file transfer problem, devices suddenly
not being recognized and almost impossible to restore use, and the often
bizarre occurrences of registry settings just disappearing with no known
cause.)

This is a known bug. I don't think anything will be done about it. I don't
think the programming team ever believed us during beta testing and since it
isn't a security issue it will probably never be addressed.
