Mail Merge

When I merge my data for an excel spreadsheet into my word document, the
field for a percentage will not display the number as I want it. For
example: -25.42%. I've tried various things to format the number in both
the excel spreadsheet and in the word document, but nothing seems to work!
Can anybody help???
