Mail Merge in Word

Whilst trying to access my Outlook contacts from word ( to
put them into a mail merge) the following error came up;

"This operation cannot be completed because of dialog or
database engine failures. Please try again later."

Well much later and a few restarts later and no luck -
same error. Anyone any ideas.

To understand fully the process involved us opening the
mail merge wizard, moving through the steps.When it cam to
selecting recipients we slected "from outlook contacts"
and then it gave us a selection of contact lists in
outlook" when we tried to select "L2L Contacts" ( the
contacts stored on the computer and server for the whole
business) it brings us the above error.
