Mail Merge greyed out

M

MCHR

I have created a letterhead word template. Don't want to stop anyone from
doing their own formatting just to stop access to the header and footer.
Almost good but the mail merge is greyed out.

Hi MCHR,

From what you've posted, I'm guessing you've protected the document for forms. Apart from limiting your editing options, such a
document is incompatible with mailmerge - which would explain why the mailmerge option is greyed out.

Cheers

So how do I fix it?

Remove the protection.

If you need to have formfields in the merged document, see the article

Thank you for your help, but I'm confused. I am using Word 2003 not Excel
and I do not have my document protected. I double checked to make sure.
What do you suggest.

What did you do to prevent the header from being changed?
