Mail Folders with no associated Data Files

My problem is that I have three mail folders that show up in the left pane
navigation that are not associated with any data files. I want to delete
(close) these mail folders, however because they are not associated with a
data file, I get an error message that reads "The Operation Failed. An object
could not be found."

It appears that somehow along the way, I deleted the associated .psts so now
they are abandoned in my Outlook left pane. I have tried to drop .pst files
in the appropriate folder and name them in accordance with the name in the
navigation pane, but they don't "sync-up", so I'm still unable to delete the
orphans.

If anyone has any ideas or solutions, I'd appreciate the direction.

Sorry... I forgot to include that this is an issue with Outlook 2003 with XP
SP2.

Searching through here, I found some ideas and resolved my own issue. If
anyone else is interested, the solution was to create a new Profile.

I accessed the Control Panel, then Mail. There, it gives you the option to
create a whole new profile for Outlook. I set-up my mail accounts correctly,
and then deleted the old profile. My issue is resolved.

I will now be more careful as I combine old .pst files into one for my new
profile.
