Mail Folder is Missing

Aaron Stark

I have an issue. I had set up a mail folder (as a subfolder under my Inbox)
over two years ago. I also set up rules to move emails from a certain
account into that folder. This has been working smoothly until Friday. The
folder I set up vanished along with two years worth of email messages and
attachments. I have researched this on the web and have tried the following,
all with no luck:

- The missing folder did not get moved to another folder. I opened all
folders/subfolders.

- Advanced Find does not return any of the missing messages.

- I tried a System Restore.

- I ran ScanPST.exe twice.

- I started Outlook with the /resetfolders switch.

- I looked in Deleted Items.

- I looked in the Archive PST file.

- I looked in Recycle Bin (not that outlook items should end up there....)

I'm tempted to purchase one of the Outlook Repair software packages I've
seen, but am a little skeptical.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or has anyone had any experience with any
of the 3rd party repair software?

Thank you.

- Aaron

Folders don't go AWOL on their own so there must be something more going on
here.
You don't have a backup of your pst-file either?

If the pst-file hasn't been compacted yet, you could try this method;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/restoredeleteditemsfromanoutlookpst.htm

If that doesn't work, you could try a commercial recovery tool but that
still would only work if the pst-file hasn't compacted yet. Most tools offer
a trial mode to show what it is able to recover but be warned; those tools
won't come cheap.
