Mail Categories

In Outlook 2003, if you assign a category to a contact, shouldn't the
category register when you receive an email from a contact? The reason I ask
is I want all the email messages from certain categories to be display as a
certain color, but it seems you have to assign a category to the actual email
message. Any advice?

Not sure what you mean by "category" but what you want is Automatic
Formatting. You can have Outlook display messages from different senders in
different colors.

you need to assign a category using rules - the contacts category is used on
ly in the contacts folder.

The problem is you can only make 20 rules. I was trying to get around that
limitation.

The limit on rules relates to size, not number. You can have as many rules
as you want as long as the total size is under 32K. Either try to limit
your categories or use Automatic Formatting to assign at least some of the
colors without needing a rule.
