Mail cannot be deleted from Inbox

Whenever when you want to delete unwanted mail from Inbox Outlook Express 5 denies the command. Also when you try to delete from the Deleted Items the same error occurs
Have tried to create a folder and copy old messages from Inbox to the new folder, but it can be deleted from the new folder, what could be the problem?
