Mail and News through Outlook?

In Linux I used Pine for reading both email and newsgroups, which
was nice since I could share folders between the two. I had hoped
to do the same with Outlook in Windows XP, but I now see that
Outlook does not have an integrated newsreader and defaults to
Outlook Express instead. For now I created a folder in Outlook
Express in which I store any messages I want to save, then export
it to Outlook and distribute the messages amongst several different
folders. This works, but it is clumsy.

Is there any way I can share a few folders between Outlook and
Outlook Express? If not, is there an easier way than exporting and
distributing the messages as I am now doing?

No. For the most part, your method is the only way. However, if you use an
IMAP mail server, you can set up an IMAP account in OE and file the messages
easier.
