macro; troubles

Windows 98 with Office 2000. When we open excel a whole bunch of various non
excel files open. They are different files with various extensions (it even
opens autoexec and config). Security level in macros has been set to high.
Antivirus scanning shows no infections. Please help.

Sounds like there's some files in the startup folders. Follow these steps
