I discover that the only way to play files with any kind of
organisaiton on my Lyra HD Mp3 and WmA player is if there are
playlists...

Now there are thousands of files and hiundreds of directories,
and all I want is one M3U file for each directory (but then in
one central M3u-directory).

Is there any freeware that can do this? There are plenty of
M3u editors, but you have to select by hand. I'd be here next
week!

Any suggestions?

I am not sure I fully understand what you need done, but maybe
OneClickPlay with the right switches can do what you need? This is not a
m3u editor, but rather a generator. Btw, this is one of my all time
favorite freeware apps.

Yeah... but it's only RANDOMIZED :(

Strange that there are several such aps, but none that create
non-randomised ones... i.e. one m3u per subdirectory.

I mean I organised my files into subdrectories to keep 'em
organised... (e.g. type/artist/album)

Yes, "Tag" can do that; it creates one m3u per subdirectory. It's a
command line program though. Something like this would do the trick:

tag *.mp3 --recursive --playlist --dirname --plname "playlistname"
