lucent modem problem

After installing xp sp1 my computer will not hang up the
modem. I have removed and reinstalled the modem but it
did not change anything.
 
I don't know if this will help but it solved my problem.
I have Mitsubishi Diamond Voice 56 SE external modem.

Install modem through control panel and add hardware.
When modem is installed don't just reboot your computer
turn it off go and make a cuppa and then restart. I have
had no problems with modem dropping out or not hanging up
since I did it this way
