lst boot.ini file

my system has become increasingly unstable.
I have multiple issues, but the most pressing seems to be
the "Invalid boot.ini file. Booting from windows"
The boot file is empty and I am much too computer
illiterate to fix the problem.
HELP!!!!!!!!!

Was there a successful resolution? I have similar
problems -- with Windows Installer, no Restore, but my OS
does at least start up and run okay.
