lsass.exe high cpu xp

I have XP professional,3 accounts setup,when I log into my
account lsass.exe struggles to load at 70-90% cpu and
does this for 10minutes.Once it finally does manage to
load,then everything is fine.However,if I log into the
other 2 accounts,everything is done in 40seconds.Even if
I log out and in to the slow loading account,I have to
endure this lsass.exe 10min.struggle.Does somebody(please)
have a suggestion on a fix or a solution.There are no
errors pop up or warnings.Just frustrations on my
part,watching this in windows task manager.Thank-you!

Create a new user profile and copy your user data into it,
then delete the old user profile, which is likely corrupt.

I believe I have some follow up information to this problem. I looked
at the process viewer and noticed that the lsass.exe process is
querying files in the following directory:

C:\Documents and Settings\default\Application Data\Microsoft\Protect\

I then noticed that there are over 15,000 system files in this
directory. What are these files? Are these related to EFS? I don't
believe I have encrypted any files on my system. But I do recall
adding permissions to a lot of data files for only my id which would
explain why logging in under other user accounts does not have this
delay. I'd hate to go down the route of creating a new user profile
when that may not be the problem. Would appreciate knowing why these
system files were created, if they are needed and how to make my system
not choke everytime I login. Thank you.

I have the same problem in my desktop and Notebook, both running Win XP
PRO... in the begining it happened only in my desktop and yesterday my
notebook started with the same issue (when it start up it takes like 7
minutes for lsass.exe to release the CPU from 80-90%).

After reading some of the comments here, I am wondering if encrypting files
will have to do something with it. Yesterday I encrypted a folder with many
subfolders, after that, I notice the lsass.exe started to mess up with
notebook...

How can this be fixed? and will it happen again every time that I want to
encrypt a file?
