lsass.exe Endpoint Format is Invalid

When I boot normally, I get this error. The XP boot screen
goes (and hangs for a while too), then enteres Windows as
normal. Before the welcome screen, all you see is black
with a critical error box saying lsass.exe Endpoint format
is invalid.

The only way I can get into my computer is via safe mode.
I have tried using Last Good Configuration, it does
nothing. The only way to temporarily fix it is to
reinstall SP2.

I formatted my computer because of this, and I still get
it. I thought it was related to ZoneAlarm Pro because that
was encountering problems too, so I uninstalled it. It
still does it. It is not related to the Sasser virus, 4
different scans show no viruses present on the machine.

PLEASE HELP!

Kane

......

Funny thing, yesterday my box refused to boot in the morning:
lsass.exe - invalid parameter
and boot.ini corrupted.
WTF
no way to get the box into WinXP again...mission clean wipe followed since I
had no repair option left! looks like Microsoft wanted us to have some
weekend fun..funny things happen since SP2 is installed.

:-(

Same problem here... the strange thing is that I've had this error yesterday,
but after a few reboots / starting safe mode my system runned properly again!

I did a virus and spyware scan, checkdisk, checked my run (startup)
entry's... everything seemed ok, I even did a few reboots without any error.

But today... same problem (lsass.exe, endpoint format....)
It won't even boot in safe mode.

This problem seems to happen to several users with different types of
hardware (discovered that after hours googling). I use Windows XP
Professional, Service Pack 2 (all available updates installed), have an
updated virusscanner (Norman AV) running.

Is there someone who can help me? or lead me to a solution?
Many thanx in advance!
