What looks like a toolbar in the lower right corner of your screen is
actually the system notification area, also known as the system tray, which
is part of the operating system. The primary role of the system tray is to
show the status of open programs that do not display in a window. Examples
include antivirus programs and many other programs you have chosen to start
with Windows.
To remove the icons in the tray you must open the respective programs and go
through their menus, looking for the option that places an icon in the tray.
You would then turn off that option. This may not be possible (or even a
good idea) for all programs but you can certainly try. To remove the clock
from the system notification area, go to Control Panel > Taskbar and Start
Menu > Taskbar tab > remove the checkmark from 'Show the clock'.
