Low Virtual Memory

Hi,

hope someone can help. Starting to get low virtual memory
messgaes appearing when i open applications such as Word,
Excel, especially when there are two applications open.
Some applicatrions do not run when the shortcut is clicked
or the executable is double clicked.

I have 384Mbyte of memory, 40Gbyte HD, pagefile is
adequate. Seems to have strated to occur since i installed
Nortons Internet Security 2004 updates, or possible
registry file corruption ??? . Any ideas ???, as this is
really annoying. Thanks in advance,

"pagefile is adequate", as in, twice physical memory, or 768 MB? With 384MB
RAM, I would set min and max to this value, to avoid page file
fragmentation. If that's so, and this is shooting in the dark, I suppose you
could delete and recreate the pagefile, or tell Tweakui to clear it. Now, if
you are running out of virtual memory, you have already run out of physical
memory. Consider adding more, but take the time to research your needs, and
from whom to buy, because memory prices are a funny thing.
