All of a sudden (I think!) ... whenever I open any spreadsheet or just Excel
itself, my system freezes and I get a 'low resources' warning. It only seems
to be Excel that's causing this problem!

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Have you been doing a lot of menu and toolbars customizing?

Sometimes the *.xlb file where Excel stores these gets a little bloated and
can cause this message.

Do a file search for *.XLB

You may find more than one. In that case, make some menu or toolbar changes
and see which *.xlb file updates.

Since you don't mention your version of Office/Excel I can only guess where
the *.XLB file will be stored.

In Excel 97 would be in Windows folder and named username8.xlb

2000, 2002, and 2003 are Excel9, 10 and 11 respectively and are usually stored
in

C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel

With Excel closed........rename to Excelx.old

Excel will build a new one next time you open.

Note: this will wipe out any customizations you have done.

When you get running properly, make a regular backup of the *.xlb file.

Gord,

Thanks for that, it seems to have worked/resolved the problem!

Thanks for the feedback.

Always nice to hear what works or doesn't.
