HELP I keep getting the error message Low Disk Space on Drive C. I went to
control panel and tried to delete unused programs (some of which could not be
found but still have an icon) I've tried to run Diskeeper defragmenter, and a
disc cleaner utility, nothing is working and the error message are becoming
more frequent, every 15 minutes or so

Try PerfectDisk (www.raxco.com) - it can work with very little free
space and might be able to clean up your drive before removing more.

You need to get a new and larger hard drive very soon. Even if you do get
it cleaned up once, that state won't last more than a few days and you'll be
back where you started. There should always be at least 15% of a drive wiht
free space, preferably more like 25%. You'll find things will run faster
with a larger drive too. They're cheap right now too.

If the C drive is running short of disk space, you may move your documents folder, downloaded files to a different drive (if available). Most people move the internet downloads, other software setups to removable drives.

Another tip: Turning off the hibernation feature frees up the disk space equaling to the amount of RAM installed in the system.

Thanks for the tips. Just ordered a new drive, in the meantime I ran
Perfectdisk RX and continue to defrag the C drive, I also turned off the
hibernate deal, none of which seemed to work and the low disk space warning
are becoming more frequent. Any other tips and suggestions are GREATLY
appreciated. Thanks Again

Delete the super-hidden file named "hiberfil.sys" from the C:\ drive root, if it exists. Note that you'll have to enable Windows Explorer to show hidden files/folders *and* protected Operating System files also.

It will remove temporary files, empty your Recycle Bin etc.

Description of the Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310312

Disk Defragmenter will only run if there is 15% free disk space.

How large is your hard disk and how much free space. In Windows Explorer
right click on your C drive and select {Prioerties to get the
information.

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

Hope this helps.
