Lost XP key

Put in a new motherboard and processor and of course XP
didn't like it. Wife lost the key to the XP Home edition.
What would be the next move? Pressing the R key for
repair does not work. Thanks for any help.

If your copy of Windows XP Home came with the computer (that is, it is an
OEM version), then the computer manufacturer will have stuck the Certificate
of Authenticity containing the key onto the outside case of your computer.
Have you checked here?
