lost xp key

Please be aware that while apps like the keyfinder from Magical Jellybean,
Viewkey.exe or AIDA32 can uncover the Product Key used to install your
operating system that uncovered key might not match the key which your OEM
CD requires.

The reason is because some vendors use a different OEM CD when they
originally install the operating system and then include another CD when
they ship the system. You should test the uncovered key to see if it will
work with your CD. From Windows simply pop the OEM CD into the drive. Click
Install button and choose the option to "Upgrade". Accept the License
Agreement and you will be asked for the Product Key. Enter the key you found
and click Next. If the key works you will go to the next page at which time
you can Cancel the setup. No harm done. If the key won't work with your CD
then you will get an error message.

OEM disks are not supported by Microsoft. You will need to contact the
vendor for tech support including a new product key if the one you uncover
is invalid.
