Lost XP Appearance

I seem to have lost the xp Appearance. After re-starting computer the xp Appearance was gone. It looks like the old classic windows, flat, un-3D, white background display windows... That I rememer I thought i was able to switch back and forth in the control pannel theme and appearances. Help please. TY
 
fairly easy to fi

1. Right click My Computer and go to propertie
2. Select the Advanced tab and click the Settings button under Performanc
3. Either select "Adjust for best appearance", or select Custom and check the box for "Use visual styles on windows and buttons.
4. Hit apply, and bam, problem solved

Go to Start > Run > services.msc

and check that the service 'Themes' is on automatic

I have exactly the same problem!!! Had it for a few months now and i can only choose the classic version(BORING!)
Can anyone out there please help us??!
 
oh
and i have done both Lyons and roger have said and unfortunatly no luck :(
