Lost Windows Password

My friend gave me a computer he has not used in over a year.
But he does not know what the Windows XP password is, and it will not let me
re-set it.
I'm stuck!
What can I do?

Reinstall Windows and create you own password.

However since the computer is new to you, you are better off starting
over with a Clean installation:

This way all problems, known and unknown, are removed and you can
start fresh knowing exactly where you are.
