Hello,
I have a laptop with windows 2000 on it and I have forgot
my password and the local IS guy at work is new and he
never configured this laptop. So no one know's the admin's
password. Is there a way that I can use a utility or maybe
there's a way of by passing this. So I can get in and
change my password, so I don't have to reformat the hard
drive and install the OS and lose everything? Let me know
Thanks,
Frank

If you do a searchgon google you should find a linux boot
disk that is able to change any account password.

boot into safemode and whe nasked for admin password just
dont put anything in it
then go to control panel and then users and create a new
user :)

From a domain admin account use computer management (in
control panel/administrative tools) to remotely manage the
computer in question.

Drill down to System Tools/Local Users and Groups/Users/
and right click on the local administrator account.
Select "set password" and acknowledge the warning on
screen. It'll tell you resetting the password may result
in loss of data if it's password protected.

You will NOT need to know the old password to do this.
