Chris

thanks in advance for your help. somewhere around 12/15/07 i posted a
question and got some great tips. i am sure i posted in windows xp general.
well, today now that i have time to follow the tips i can't find them. (i
know i should have copied them into a doc or txt.) i have searched, page by
page, to back to 12/1/07. the subject line had "gf clicked on a link on a
msn page" or something like that. i signed it "Chris". it should be
associated with my email address (e-mail address removed) because i "thought" i
checked "notify". i really hate having to start this thread just because of
my mistake.
thanks again for any help you can offer. Chris

Chris

I see it and is listed as below

It is there on the server. You need to use a newsreader not the awful Web interface that you are using at present. You can set up OE,WM to do this.

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

analysis, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Here is a link to your thread, Chris:

A much easier way to access Usenet and participate in newsgroups is to
use an application which is designed to do so (not with an awkward Web
site interface).

Quick instructions (adapted from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/community/columns/newsgroups101.mspx
):

1. Open Outlook Express

2. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.

3. Click the Add button, and then click News.

4. Enter your name (Chris) and e-mail address (something like
(e-mail address removed) to prevent the spam harvesters from
getting your e-mail address).

5. For the name of the news server, type "msnews.microsoft.com" (without
the quotation marks).

6. Click Finish.

7. Click the Close button.

8. Outlook Express will ask if you wish to download the list of
available newsgroups. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and
answer 'yes'. When the download is finished, you can subscribe to any
group by double-clicking its icon.

9. For this particular newsgroup, scroll down to

microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

10. Click Subscribe.

11. Click Go To.

12. Headers are automatically downloaded. You may sort them any way you
like: by Subject, by Author, by Date. You can always get more headers by
clicking on the Headers button.

13. Click Ctrl+H and you will see only threads you're participating in.
Clicking Ctrl+H again will take you back to the unfilterd view. You may
toggle back and forth between these views if you wish.

If you'd like nore detailed information about Usenet, see:
