Lost Task Bar Button

Guest

Posted this question on 10-8 in New Users, again on 10-14 in Configuration &
Management. No solutions. Have searched the groups, Kelly's Korner, aumha,
Help, etc., etc.. All seem to pertain to Task Bar problems other than my
specific one.
Problem: Lost the round button with arrow to Hide unused icons for one user
only. The Task bar is there, start button, clock, all icons load and are
functional on the right hand side, but will not hide. Settings for start
menu and task bar are identical for both users. The button is there for one
user, but not the other. Both users are Admins. (maybe not good, but
necessary here).
Does anyone know how to get that button back ? Help and advice most
appreciated. Thank you.

Right click on the Start Button, then select Properties from the drop down
list.
On the Taskbar and start Menu click on Taskbar Tab and make sure this check
box is Checked:

[√ ] Hide inactive icons .

Click [Apply..] then click [OK] to confirm and close the Taskbat and S.M
window.

Thanks, nass, for taking the time to reply.
I neglected to mention that I had performed that procedure - multiple times
- when signed in as that user, with no effect. That button just will NOT
appear on the Task Bar for that user account and the icons just all stay
visible - will not hide. I've even tried unlocking the task bar, going thru
the appropriate steps, applying and still no button appears. I've been
reluctant to take the steps from Kelly's Korner, as the task bar is there and
functions as it should except for that missing button.
about at my wits' end...
Any other thoughts or suggestions ? Thanks again.

Hi Bob,
Try to uncheck it : [ ] Hide inactive icons . and reboot your machine then
check it again, does it show the chevron on your taskbar?.
If it didn't try this:

Right click on the Start Button, then select Properties from the drop down
list.
On the Taskbar and start Menu click on Taskbar Tab and make sure this check
box is Checked:

[√ ] Hide inactive icons . Click on [ Customize..] button. On the
Customize Notification window make sure the First Item under Current Items is
set to:
Hide when Inactive.

Click [Apply..] then click [OK] to confirm and close the Taskbar and S.M
window and Reboot your machine, is it any help?.

If it didn't try to get the Kelly Fix for Taskbar+Plus.
HTH.

Thank you, nass.
Sorry, but I could not get to the groups yesterday by any route... So,
today I have printed your last solutions and will try them out. I'm thinking
that as many times as I've reset those options, maybe I did not restart the
machine as that user after applying.... anyway, I shall go try your
suggestions and post back the results.
Thank you again.

OK, nass, Thanks, tried all your suggestions - still no button.
Do you have any idea which line in Kelly's Korner I should try ? And is it
advisable to go there and download the fix as the user whose task bar button
is missing ? (That user is also Admin.)
Thanks again for your help. It is most appreciated.
