Hi, I hope someone might have some helpful suggestions. I
had a Toshiba satellite 1800 laptop running preinstalled
winXP. Unfortunately contents of system32 got damaged.
Scandisk repaired the directory, but it's now empty. I
don't know how to restore contents. I've got a product
recovery disc, but this just seems to offer complete
restoration of original drive, deleting all data etc. Any
ideas ?

Hi Philip,

Call your system manufacturer, see if there is any way of running the
recovery product for a restore only. Otherwise, you are out of luck if this
is truely the case.

By the way...if the system loads, and you don't see any files under that
folder, then have you checked folder options/view to see if you have it set
to hide system and operating system files? If that folder is truely empty,
the system would not load.
