lost Switchboard form

I deleted (right click, cut) the Form object of the first rough Switchboard
attempt which had errors.....which maybe was the wrong thing to do. I didn't
really think about it.

Now using Switchboard Manager (Access2000) there is never a form appearing
in the Forms Objects area upon completion. I've closed & re-opened Access.
Am baffled.

Here is a past post of mine on this issue which should hopefully help.

If you need to create a new Switchboard Form, but wish to save the existing data in the Switchboard
Items table then follow these steps:

1. Backup your database (always a good thing).
2. Since you deleted the form go ahead and compact the database to clear out any dust bunnies.
3. Right click on the Switchboard Items table and rename it to "zSwitchboard Items" (no quotes
though).
4. Run the Switchboard Manager Add-in again. The wizard will say it cannot find a valid one and ask
if you wish to create a new one. Say Yes. After the first wizard form comes up just close the
wizard. You will notice that another new Switchboard Items table and Switchboard form have been
created.
5. Delete the new Switchboard Items table.
6. Rename the table "zSwitchboard Items" back to just Switchboard Items.
7. Compact the database once again.
8. You should be back in business. Make any adjustments to the items by running the wizard again if
needed.

Wow....that appears to be quite an ordeal. I will copy this and note.
Thanks. I am able to create the equivalent of a switchboard by just using a
normal form with command buttons and using it as the default start up
feature..... But I was baffled on the normal switchboard and thought there
was something simple/basic I was missing. Based on your instructions it
would seem maybe there is a slight flaw in MS's design of this feature - - I
certainly will never casually delete a poorly made switchboard
again....thanks for the help.

Not really all that difficult trust me.

Creating your own switchboard-type form is just fine. Most, if not all,
the experts create their own form(s) for this purpose. The SBM is
fine for creating something quick and easy.

Well I will have to respectfully disagree with that. After you take
all the time to create your own custom switchboard-type form and
then accidentally delete that form (just as you did with the SBM) what
would be the difference? You still lost your form!
:)

Without having a backup copy of your database to import another
copy of the form, which would be quicker to re-create, the custom
one or the SBM one?
:)

So the best lesson here is to always keep good backups of your database.
