A user profile was overwritten on a 2K box. Now, all of "my documents" is missing, along w/ browser favorites etc. its not in ANY of the profile folders, and when I do a search, nothing comes up. Short of 3rd party uitility, is there a way to recover the "deleted" data
Someone wrote that it was answered in Win2000 file system, but I can't find it.
thank

There is no inbuilt facility to undelete files that
were deleted or overwritten. You would have to
use some third-party tools, or preferably restore
the files from backup.

In addition - always a good idea to redirect My Documents to another folder
on your hard drive. For standalone computers, I create c:\data and use that.
On networks, I redirect it to the users' home directories.

If you posted the same question to multiple groups without doing so as a
single message, that's called multiposting and is generally frowned upon. If
you instead crosspost, by sending a single message to a handful of relevant
groups (separated by commas), everyone can follow the thread....
