Lost or corrupted user profile

Running XP Home SP1 and running the latest fixpacks, I am
experiencing a problem with a lost or corrupted user
profile for the user joe. I can see the profile joe that
I want to use in the C:\Documents and Settings\joe folder,
but when I switch to the joe user I see the desktop and
settings from the All Users profile, not the joe profile.
Is there some way to reconnect this joe user back to the
joe profile that it used to link to.

Thanks in advance.

To change profile location, you need to log on with administrator's rights
and open the
Registry Editor to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
(Note: that is the Windows NT tree not Windows)

Then, look at the ProfileImagePath value for each profile and find the one
that points to the profile your trying to redirect. You may have to weed
through the list to figure out which one is actually for Joe, but after you
determine this, change the ProfileImagePath to the joe folder. Reboot and
log on as Joe and see if you are getting the profile you're looking for.
