How do you mean "lost" it? Unless you uninstalled it, it's still there.....

Hi Gordon
Thanks for your quick response. I have checked in "Add remove programs" it's
still there. I clicked on "repair" It started to repair then came up with
"Fatal Error" where do I go from there, or is that the end of the line?

Any version of Office suite was never part of any Windows version.
Office is a separate product and needs to be installed separately from
XP. As stated before, unless you uninstalled it from Control Panel --
Add/Remove Programs, you should still have in but you may have
removed the shortcuts.

Simply reinstall it from the original installation CDs.

To Mapo, if you don't have the installation disc & need a office suite, look
at the free openoffice at www. openoffice.org

Several points and questions:

1. What Ofiice Suite? There are several different ones, put out by different
software companies.

2. *No* Office Suite comes with Windows. They are all separate products.

3. What does "I seem to have lost it" mean? Programs can't get lost all by
themselves. Where have you looked for it? In Start | Programs? On the
desktop? Have you looked for the actual executable programs on My Computer?

4. If it's truly gone (which I doubt), you will need to reinstall it from
the original media.

Hi everybody Thankyou all for your input. I have now found my original disk
and re-loaded it.
My real problem is, I'm more interested in the inner workings of a computer
than actually using the programs and I finish making a mess of things. What
I really need is, to learn more about the subject!
If anyone can recomend books or web sites that would help me to learn I
would be very greateful.. I should add I'm not a young person, but I have had
a lifetimes experiance of fault finding on ordinary electrical equipment.

If you mean 'Where is it on the hard drive', then you will find the files
under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office (assuming that C is your bootable
drive.

If you want to know where the Office (again assuming you mean MS Office
2003) stores files that you have created, then look in the
Tools/Options/Filelocations tab. This will provide the default locations for
created files, assuming that you have not specified a location.

Other than that, I am not sure what it is you want to know.
