Lost my documents by turning sycronization off

I was working on two laptops, one normally connected to a SBS 2003 server,
one that never (hardly ever) connects. I was working on them not connected
to the local network - just the internet - off site. The balloon requesting
to sycronize kept popping up prompting connection to the network, I then went
into the My Documents Directory and turned sycronization off - thinking - no
more sync messages. after a restart - the entire my docments was gone!! now I
know we were not connected and they (the documents) were there (in a
temporary state??) prior to my unchecking sycronization, but after the
restart the my documents folder was "unavailable" listing the server address
as the the location and none of the documents are on C:\ drive at all. Where
did they go? are they gone forever? the one (the laptop) that regularly
connects should be able to get on the network, click on the My Docs all
should be there, but the one that never connects, that had more recent files
in that directory than are on the server, well - are those files still
avaialble somewhere or did they get deleted? Please help.

My sympathy but... you're asking in the wrong place. The webpage has misled
you (as it has many others); the first alphabetical group is this one, for
Microsoft Access database design. It appears that your problem is relating to
your operating system.

Please repost in a group supporting the operating system for your laptop.
Indicate what version and what service packs you have installed.
