I am using Windows XP, the latest version of IE 6 and a cable internet connection, networked to another computer in my house via a router. In the last 2 weeks, I have begun to experience internet connection problems. If I close the IE window and the computer goes to standby mode for several hours, when I return to the computer, and open IE, there is no internet connection, I have to re-boot the computer in order to get the internet connection back. The other computer in the network is not experiencing this problem. I have tried to follow advice I found on this newsgroup to change the power management settings for the network adapter, but I have not able to find such a setting in the device manager. I have changed the power save settings to prevent the computer from hibernating, but I have still lost the connection after a couple of hours. Any other suggestions?

Are you by chance using the newest version of Zonealarm? The reason I ask is because a few days ago I installed the newest version of it and shortly after I began to have the exact same problems you described. I did a clean uninstall of Zonealarm and reverted to the previous version. Since then I have not experienced any more problems. Here is a link that will explain in detail how to perform a clean uninstall of Zonealarm.........
