Lost info, mail, contacts, sent items

I am running Outlook 2007. I changed providers and subsequently have lost
the last 6 months info from all folders within outlook. I had been directed
by the providers support centre to check windows mail (which I hadn't used),
all messages and contacts etc were in there for my previous provider, again
excepting the last 6 months of info. I subsequently imported to outlook all
windows mail items to recreate as best I can the folders. OUtlook 2007 is
still not recognising all the contacts when I am creating messages and they
don't appear in the dialog box in any contact lists.
So my problem is 2 fold - I would like to know if anyone can instruct me on
how to get this last 6months of information back into my outlook (no one here
as instructed outlook or any other app to delete the info, it's just floating
in cyberspace) and how can I instruct outlook 2007 to recognise the contacts
that I imported (which appear clearly in the contacts folder) when I am
creating emails?

I would appreciate any useful advice.

Changing providers would have no affect on that at all. Creating a new mail
profile or a new PST might make it appear as though you lost your data, but
it's still on your hard drive. Open your mail profile (with the Mail applet
in Control Panel) and add your old PST to your current profile to regain
access to the data it contains. This may help:
