Lost INDEX in Help and Support Center

For some reason, when I click the Index icon at the top
of the 'Help and Support Center' page, I get a blank
panel on the left of the page where the Index used to be.
(There IS the little box with the 'X' in it at the upper
left corner.)
I thought about using my XP installation CD to repair the
problem, but I'm not sure that that is the best solution.
When I tried to use the CD, I was only given the option
of re-installation or upgrade, neither of which I want to
do.
Please let me know if there is something simple I'm
missing, or, if not, how to bring the Index back. It is
my preferred method of useing HELP.
